Finally got a new laptop

For $750, it's decent. Though I do wish I'd known about this computer when it on was sale for fifty bucks less last week.

  • Intel Core i3 330 CPU
  • 4 GB DDR3
  • 640 GB HDD
  • AMD RADEON Mobility HD 5650 1 GB DDR3 (WSGVD;GHAHGAJDFHJH I CAN PLAY L4D2 ON THIS. AND BIOSHOCK TOO, FINALLY)
  • 15.6" LED LCD; 1366x768 (low resolution :( But I can get used to it)
  • 802.11n
  • Windows 7 Home Premium x64
  • Multitouch touchpad
  • an HDMI port (I CAN PLAY HD THINGS ON OUR HDTV EORAGIUHIGUG)

There's this little Bluetooth logo on it, and a function key to activate it. This boggles me since there is no such capability for it. Maybe the model was rushed? It's the only irk I have so far, aside from the keyboard.

It's going to take a while to get used to the Windows 7 interface, as will adapting to a multilingual keyboard. The latter is mildly annoying—I keep smashing a "/" when I'm reaching for the left-shift key. Who knows, maybe I'll wake up with the urge to type in French accents or something.

Currently I'm just putting a bunch of art folders, work/school folders, and installers from this computer onto an external hard drive to transfer to the new computer. Are there any "must-haves," software-wise, that I should grab/download? Like, a good registry cleanup tool, webcam tool, or some such? Anything, really.
